The Myth of Saban's Players

With the "Saban Bowl" upon us, the hype is at an all time high. Part of that hype is that LSU has been winning with Saban's players. Check this out from The Advocate:

-Of the 123 players on LSU’s roster Monday, 30 were on the roster in 2004, Saban’s last season coaching the Tigers. Seventeen of the 30 were in the starting lineup Oct. 20 for LSU’s 30-24 victory against Auburn.

-Eleven of the top 15 tacklers this season are players Saban recruited.

On the other hand
-Of the 294 points the Tigers have scored, 240 came from players who signed or walked on with LSU after Saban left. (thats almost 82% of the points coming from NON-SABAN PLAYERS).

Seems to me that Saban is a helluva recruiter, but so far, Miles ain't so bad himself. Let's just home The Hat can keep this going (and get all these discipline problems taken care of - Odom and Perrilloux).

Thanks Advocate (the newspaper).

"Classy" Fans

Everyone has their stories about "classless" fans. I know I do, and I sure as hell know that Ole Miss fans do (they seem to think that all other teams' fans are classless), but this kind of takes the cake. Before tOSU put a handy little beat down on Penn St., the fans decided that they would make a pre-emptive strike on OSU fans.

Favorite part: "Interfraternity Council President Grant Miller (senior-English) also could not give additional information, but said he believes no Penn State student meant to disrespect any Ohio State student."
Nice way to show respect to other fans, by gingerly tossing them full cans of beer.

PS - I know that plenty of LSU fans have done horrible stuff to visiting fans, I do not participate in such actions or condone them.
